Why These Programs? And why now?
Jason Criddle’s motivation isn’t rooted in theory; it’s personal. As he’s shared in multiple interviews, he grew up without a safety net. In a poor, broken home, rampant with abuse… both physical and psychological. After losing both parents; his mother in 2021 and his estranged father in 2023, he came face-to-face with what he calls “the absence of legacy.”
“Neither of my parents left anything for their children,” he said. “That’s not going to be my story. I’m going to leave a living legacy of people, skills, companies, and homes. Billionaires make money off the world. I’m going to leave the world better.”
That vow evolved into the creation of SmartrWomen and SmartrVeterans, two specialized branches of the Smartr ecosystem designed to give education, resources, and opportunity to groups that have historically been underserved.
Criddle explains:
“Veterans get shuffled through intake sessions and resume workshops. But where’s the hands-on leadership and sales training? That’s where real money is. That’s how people build their own security. They should be taught to work towards freedom instead of being thrown back into a workforce that doesn’t understand their mental or physical struggles.”
He’s equally passionate about empowering women. Especially single mothers, survivors, and those recovering from addiction or homelessness who often face systemic barriers to funding and opportunity. He was raised by a single mom, and watched her get screwed over, never get ahead, lose any opportunity she tried to go after, and die unhappy and in pain from pancreatic cancer.
“Less than five percent of women-owned small businesses ever receive funding,” he points out. “That’s going to change.”

“The legacy I didn’t get,” he says, “is the one I’m building for others.”
