Decorating a Teenager Bedroom – Tops Tips for a Win-Win Situation

Decorating a Teenager Bedroom

We all know how emotional teenagers can be and when it comes to decorating their bedrooms, there can be conflicts that arise. Some parents give their kids carte blanche when it comes to bedroom decor, while others demand a say in most aspects of the project.

Here are a few tips to help you get it right when decorating your teenage kid’s bedroom.

  • Let your child choose the wallpaper – You can shop for wallpaper with tropical background online in AU, a leading wallpaper supplier with some amazing designs and finishes. Categories include world maps, landscapes, city images, faux surfaces, design and art, to name but a few. If your son/daughter choose their own wallpaper, you won’t have any issues and the rest of the room design should be based on that.
  • Set a budget – Every room decoration should begin with a budget and this will teach your offspring a little about life. If the budget limits are reached, you can explain to your child that there is no more money for the project. If possible, why not ask the user of the room to have a hand in the design, then they can price the project accordingly.
  • Choosing bedroom furniture – Again, it makes total sense to let your son/daughter choose their own bedroom furniture, as they are the one who will be using it. Of course, budget restraints come into play and you can act as an ‘advisor’ when they are looking at beds and cabinets.
  • Posters – Teenagers love posters and their favourites are sports cars, big bikes, football stars and, of course, pop and movie stars. Don’t be surprised if they change posters often, as teenagers change like the wind.
  • Study area – School work is obviously important, so you need to create a study corner with a comfortable chair, a desktop PC or laptop and a high-speed Internet connection. Make sure that your kids do their homework as soon as they get home from school; this should be a rule.

If your teenage offspring has a say in how their room is decorated, they are more likely to keep it neat and tidy and hopefully, they will be very happy with their bedroom revamp.
