How to Plan a Fairytale Wedding

How to Plan a Fairytale Wedding

For many women who are about to get married, they want their big day to resemble their favourite fairytale. It could be Cinderella with the glass slipper (OK, maybe not glass, as that would be unbearably uncomfortable!) or Sleeping Beauty with the large castle and stunning medieval-style dress.

As the costs of wedding dresses drop and the hiring of wedding venues becomes more affordable, more couples are opting for fairytale weddings, with the large dresses, the castles and, of course, the striking wedding transport.

If you and your partner want to have a fairytale wedding, there are many areas to look at in the planning stage, and here, you will be given some guidance to help you. Enjoy!

Look at Venues

Where do you want to get married or hold your reception? With fairytale weddings, there are lots of options, such as a castle, a beach, a forest or a manor house. Remember, you should be looking for romantic wedding venues with a classic vibe rather than ones that have a more modern theme.

Many wedding venues will allow you to host both the wedding and the reception, which can save money and stress, so keep an eye out for package deals.

Dresses, dresses, dresses!

A huge part (often literally) of a fairytale wedding is the dress itself.

Many brides opt for the fairytale ball gown dress or one that has a large train, which can make for a dramatic entrance. Yes, you can get wedding dresses and groom outfits online, but to make sure that there are no errors, be sure to try the clothes on, and if you are going wedding dress shopping, be sure to bring along your friends and family!

Transport

For many couples looking to recreate their favourite fairytale wedding, getting to the ceremony is often not suited to a simple car. Ergo, if you have the budget, you can look into paying for a horse and carriage. That’s ideal for Cinderella-themed weddings, as you can quite easily get a carriage that is in the shape of a pumpkin! Be sure to book such an addition early, as these are incredibly popular and take bookings months in advance.

Menu and Cake

Be our guest! OK, so if you are having a Beauty and the Beast-themed wedding, the menu is pretty much written for you in the film! If you are opting for a different fairytale wedding, you can explore historical foods of the period in which the fairytale is set or even opt for foods based on the story’s country of origin. You can even have a wedding cake decorated with themes from the fairytale, too; for Beauty and the Beast, roses on cakes are popular, and for The Little Mermaid, an under-the-sea-themed cake would fit perfectly.

Invitations

There are so many options for invitations available that you can choose the perfect invite selection based on the fairytale you want to recreate. If you are choosing Beauty and the Beast, you can have rose-themed invites, and, of course, if you are choosing Cinderella, pumpkins and slippers could be the theme. This also showcases your wedding theme to your guests so they can choose their attire for the occasion.

Congratulations, and have a happy ever after!
