Navigating Your Getaway During the Peak Travel Seasons

We all love to travel during the holidays, don’t we?

But that comes with a catch: the majority of the people travel during the holidays.

This leads to peak demand, whether it’s air tickets, hotels, or restaurants. Even if you can afford to rise through the crowd and get yourself sorted with hotels and flights, there might still be hiccups like overly crowded places that can ruin your experience (especially if you’re an introvert like myself).

Being a traveler, I know how to get around these problems and cherish the getaway to the maximum with friends and family during the holidays. There are proven ways that can help you cut the fuss and get to the fun.

So, without much ado, join me as I unfold the tips and tricks.

Some Pre-Requisites to Must Check Before Leaving

Traveling is great, but it won’t take long to turn into a catastrophe if you are missing one of the following:

Documents: Your passport, birth certificate, visa, and other documents are of utmost importance. Make sure to check they are there before hopping on a taxi to the airport.

Return Ticket: If you are planning to visit a state, make sure you have a return ticket to skip the hassle of finding a return ticket.

Satellite Internet: You will be away from your home without your WiFi. So, subscribe to an affordable satellite internet plan to continue using Google Maps and other recommended apps while traveling.

Copies: You don’t need to keep your original passport and travel itinerary all the time. Just make Xerox copies and keep them in your wallet.

Be an Early Bird with Flight Booking

The higher the demand, the higher the price. As I mentioned earlier, the majority of people across the US travel during the holidays. This might lead to a surge in the pricing of air tickets. Even if you manage to get a good deal, you might not be able to find the right fit of schedule, airport, or even your favorite airlines.

A rule of thumb: Book your flight at least six months before the day you travel to get the cheapest tickets of your preferred schedule and airline.

Give Yourself Some Room to Travel Midweek

Pricing of the tickets might vary significantly based on the day of traveling. For example, if you are booking a flight for the weekend, the price of the ticket will likely be higher. If you can, be flexible with your flight schedule to save your hard-earned bucks.

Check for the Uncrowded Hours of the Famous Attractions

There are always must-visit places at your travel destination. But beware that these places are not just must-visit for you. There will likely be hundreds of people waiting in the cue to see the same place.

If you hate the crowds, you might want to look for the place’s quiet hours. Quiet hours (obvious from the name, but let me explain) are basically the time of the day when that place is least crowded.

The perk of quiet hours is that you can fully enjoy the attraction without rushing through the crowds. Not to forget, you might find some discounts at the restaurants during off-peak hours. So, do look for it and enjoy & save at the same time.

Choose the Under-Hyped Places

People are crazy to eat breakfast off of that floating tray at Bali, but do you know that there is much more to discover there? You can go around cycling, raft on the white water, or visit Waterbom Bali.

These places are often less crowded and usually offer the best bang for your buck. Apart from getting the best value, you will find such places with more peaceful vibes making the perfect places for dates with your loved one.

The bottom line is don’t go with the flow of hype, check for undiscovered places that can offer a better experience than those crowded places.

Wrapping It Up

Let me wrap it up with a great app that has helped me save more while making it seamless. I know that you can’t keep a check on the pricing all the time, and you don’t want to visit different websites to manually compare. Hopper is a mobile app that can do all of that for you. It will not only help you compare the pricing but will notify you when the ticket pricing drops. Do check it out.
