Trade fairs are a lot of fun as well as being profitable for both the visitors and the exhibitors. There are bound to be scores of people milling about looking at all the different booths and their wares while the exhibitors make their pitches to the public trying to draw potential customers in from the crowds! The atmosphere is festive and there is always excitement in the air.
It doesn’t matter where you are, be it a trade fair in Thailand, Turkey, or Tahiti, they all have the same flair and format. If you are interested in bringing your company’s goods or services to a trade fair and putting them on display for the live public eye, then we have assembled a few tips to get you there in style!
Be Organized – It’s essential that all the things you need to set up your booth and run it smoothly are carefully planned for and organized ahead of time so you can unpack and be in business as soon as possible! Make a list and check it twice, then again to be sure, and have a well-thought-out map of where everything is going to go in the space that you have available. Be ready to deploy your goods into display cases, hang your promotional posters and banners on the walls, have your business cards easily accessible to the public, and a big smile placed on your face- it’s show time!
Dress For Success – It’s important to understand that you will be on display during the fair too! If you haven’t been doing the retail side or public facing duties of your business for a while as you work in the back office, then you had better buy yourself some nice new clothes that are appropriate for the part you will play at the fair, and brush up on your social skills as well! You are going to need to make a great first impression on everyone who walks up to your booth, so look sharp and be friendly!
Put On A Show – These days it’s easy to set up a wall screen to show your promotional videos on! Be sure to invest in a quality production with a catchy tune and attractive actors to make your video pitch! Even better than a video is some kind of a live show, hire a street magician or a juggling act to entertain people passing by- having a crowd forming around your booth is always a wonderful thing!
Promotional Giveaways – It is truly amazing how much selling power a cheap toy or gimmick with your logo on it has! It doesn’t matter if you are in Thailand or Timbuktu, people love free stuff! Promote your business by preparing a variety of gewgaws you can hand out for free to the public, things like little toys for the kids, helium balloons, ballpoint pens, hats, whatever you can come up with that people will enjoy! Don’t even think about the upfront expenditure, it’s small money compared to all the goodwill and free advertising you will receive in return! “Where did you get that balloon?” “Over at that booth, go check it out!”
Have fun at the trade fair!
