Top Reasons to Take the Plunge & Book a Solo Vacation

Naturally, there are a number of reasons why it is simply not practical, or even possible, to take yourself away on a solo vacation, if only for a long weekend. Moreover, your partner and children may well have something to say about you booking a five-star cruise for a fortnight around the Mediterranean and leaving them behind.

However, whenever you find yourself in a position to travel alone, you should absolutely grab it with both hands. Here are the top reasons why!

  1. Your Self-Confidence Will Increase

It takes a certain type of person to only feel excitement (and no nerves!) on the eve of a solo vacation, but even if you are more of an introvert and are not used to ‘going it’ alone, never fear because your self-confidence levels are about to soar.

Whether your itinerary is meticulously planned out already or not, you will need to make decisions in the moment throughout your trip, speak to strangers working in the hotel and in stores and generally take control of your own life, if only for a week.

  1. You Will Spend Considerably Less Money

Next, not only will you have spent much less money on booking the vacation in the first place, but when traveling alone, you can always stick exactly to your budget and not have to scrape to be able to afford to live for the rest of the month upon your return.

There will be no pressure to enjoy the local cuisine with a sit-down meal at a restaurant (unless, of course, you want to) and if snacks for tea is what you desire, then so be it!

  1. You Are Able to Prioritize Comfort

The beauty of enjoying a day at the beach on your own is not only the peace and quiet you will afford yourself but also the simple fact that absolutely no one knows you!

Even if you usually never even take the trash without a full face of make-up, you can learn to be at one with yourself and embrace your natural beauty by not dressing to impress anyone but yourself and your own standards.

Make sure you pack shorts and pants as well as skirts, especially if you plan on exploring off the beaten track. For a stylish yet practical option, invest in a pair of trending women’s boyfriend jeans, too.

  1. You Can Be as Selfish as You Want

You will no doubt have experienced the frustration of trying to please a whole group of people when on vacation in the past, especially when you inevitably end up not being able to do what you wanted to do.

On a solo trip, the itinerary is entirely in your own hands, and you and you alone are in charge of where you go, what you want to see, and how much you want to spend. Contrary to popular belief, being selfish is not the worst thing a person can be, especially only every now and then.
