Dr Tan Kok Kuan, a Ministry of Health-accredited doctor in Singapore with a focus on men’s health, sexual health, and medical weight loss, has repositioned his work towards direct patient care and research at Dr Tan Medical Center. This decision was made due to Dr Tan’s desire to return to hands-on clinical practice and pursue translational research with practical relevance to men’s health.
Since 2020, Dr Tan has not been affiliated with Dr Tan & Partners (DTAP), the medical group he previously founded. He has been based at his new clinic, Dr Tan Medical Center, located at Novena Medical Centre. This move reflects a shift away from corporate healthcare oversight and towards a clinical role that emphasises continuity of care, patient consultations and research.
His main areas of focus include sexual health (STD/STI and HIV care), men’s health, circumcision procedures and treatments for erectile dysfunction.
Dr Tan actively contributes to professional education and research. He co-authored Singapore’s Community Blueprint to End HIV Transmission and AIDS by 2030 and contributed to national pre-exposure prophylaxis guidance published in the Singapore Medical Journal. He serves on the Education Committee of the Singapore Association for the Study of Obesity and sits on the Executive Committee of the Society for Men’s Health Singapore.
He has published in peer-reviewed medical journals and presented research at regional and international conferences, including EWMA and WONCA Asia Pacific. He also reviews submissions for Harm Reduction Journal and Oxford Medical Case Reports.
Dr Tan graduated from the National University of Singapore in 2001 with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery. He completed his early training in several public hospitals in Singapore, including Tan Tock Seng Hospital and Singapore General Hospital. Other rotations of his also included the National Skin Centre, National Heart Centre and Singapore National Eye Centre.
